Chandler Burning Index
The Chandler Burning Index uses the air temperature and relative humidity to create a numerical index of fire danger. That number is then equated to an Adjective Fire Danger.
On the ActonAstro Weather site, the Chandler Index is calculated from the current weather conditions and reflects the current calculated fire danger.
The NWS calculates a 30 day Chandler Burning Index based on forecast weather conditions for the month.
